Mother's Day Activities in York and Adams County

Mother's Day is a special holiday that allows us to pause for a moment to honor our mom's or recognize the mother of our children. Maybe you even have a close friend or family mother who has stepped up as a female role model, and you honor her just the same.  If you don't have the time go to out shopping with your children for your loved one, take a quick look at these amazing Mother's Day events happening in York and Adams counties.

Mother’s Day Brunch

On May 14th, there is a Mother's Day Brunch happening at the Naylor Wine Cellar in Stewartstown. For just $35 per person, you can treat mom to a delicious meal and children ages four and up are invited to join the fun for an additional $15 per child.

Adams County has fun to offer mom too.  The Adams County Winery is hosting a Mother's Day Wine Brunch which includes a four-course meal with wine pairings. The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg are advertising amazing Mother's Day deals all weekend so you can be sure to find something mom will love.

Arts & Crafts

If the lady in your life has an artsy flare, invite her to Art in the Vineyard where she can enjoy live music and beautiful local art along with a wine tasting.

The Olde York Street Fair is another favorite for Mother's Day weekend.  This long time tradition boasts over 100 craft vendors as well as a children's area with fun activities such as bounce houses, face painting, and games.  Parking and admittance are free, and it is sure to be a fun time for the whole family.

Adventurous Spirit

If your mother is a little more adventurous or has a little boy who loves trains, maybe she would enjoy the Mother's Day Lunch with Tea Train. While this meal includes special dishes that mom will love, it also includes chicken bites and french fries for guests under the age of twelve.

Relaxation and Pampering

While the events listed above all sound like a total dream, we also realize that sometimes all mom really wants is a little time to herself.  Consider stopping by the local salon or massage company and pick up a gift card for a manicure, pedicure, or massage. The mom in your life will be sure to thank you after she enjoys a little well deserved pampering.

Homemade From the Heart

If you ask most moms of young children what they want for Mother's Day, most often it is the time spent with her loved ones and the little crafts that she treasures the most.  Here are a couple of ideas to melt mom's heart this Mother's Day.

  • A Box of Hugs and Kisses

Pick up a little box and have your child paint and decorate it leaving the lid uncovered. After the paint is dry and the dazzling is done, fill the box with Hershey's Hugs and Kisses and glue this poem to the top of the lid.
This is a very special box,
that only you can see.
The reason it's so special
it's just for you from me.
It's filled with hugs and kisses,
as sweet as sweet can be.
Just hold the box close to your heart,
and you'll always think of me.

  • You are My Sunshine Flower Pot

Pick up a small clay pot, a small flower, and some paint.  Before potting the flower, help your child paint his or her hand and put his or her handprint on the pot.  Then, print out or write "You are my sunshine" on paper and have your child glue it to the pot.  Be sure to have your little one write his or her name and the year on the pot as well.  Finish the project by planting the flower in the clay pot.
